Mike Lloyd Design

I think the green in this design is too African. It looks particularly African in the small thumbnail size.

I'm not too sure what "too African" is supposed to mean, but again lose the stars and it becomes a destinctive and simple flag. Why do designers want to all these icons onto a flag?

This is my favorite proposal. I don't know what you mean by "too African".

I agree with the "too african" comment because green simply isnt one of our national colours.
definatly a better alternative then just about everything else i've seen, other than the old flag.

I know what you mean by "too African" -- that color combination is used in a lot of African flags and it doesn't bring NZ to mind... Blue would be better, I think: I took less than a minute to swap out the green for a blue and I think it would look much better with this color scheme! But since
I can't post an image or link directly into your blog, I can't share it, so I guess you'll have to use your imagination ;-)

(As an artist, traveler, and lover of interesting flags, this overall design is one of my favourites, other than the green)

It's good design, but not for a flag. What is it with cramming ferns and stars together? This flag would be so much better with one or the other. I'd go with the Southern Cross stars over the fern, as it is a sports icon, and good flag design does not contain craven images. 5/10/
