I am keen on maori imagery used on designs, but this is overwhelmingly traditional maori looking and thus to me is an unsuitable candidate for a New Zealand flag.

not to be considered racist by all the jumped up paranoiacs out there but this is a contender for a new Maori flag not the new flag of the nation. we need something more neutral to all the ethnicities of NZ. sorry no.
The flag scales well. But as others have said, it is heavily laden with agenda images. That aside it is not too bad as a flag for an iwi (if an iwi is ever in the market for a flag to represent them, to unify themselves and rally under). 4/10
Cluttered and divisive given the agenda images/Maori art. That said, good colors. A good flag for Maori iwi's wanting a flag.
I don't think it is all that divisive and I like it but I did feel the colours were a bit too Maori so I (inexpertly) created a blue and green version - and then that did not seem Maori enough so I tried to put some red and blue in the wave/koru.
